God has called Lyman Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the town of Lyman and beyond. To achieve this vision, and in keeping with our biblical and historical Methodist faith, we’ve embraced the following three values:
Intentional Discipleship – Jesus called 12 disciples to “follow me” as He revealed the Kingdom of God. In the Methodist movement, we believe that discipleship is best accomplished through intentional relationships that take seriously the call to follow Jesus, such as class meetings, small groups, and discipleship bands.
Leadership Development – We believe that every member of the church should be in ministry. Our goal at Lyman is to help each person discover their unique ministry and live into it for the glory of God and the good of the community. We help every new member discern their spiritual gifts, and we want to help everyone live into their unique role in the Kingdom of God.
Multiplication – Jesus’ Great Commission is to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” We are called to be a movement that multiplies our faith in both the local community and around the globe. We seek to multiply the faith through discipleship, establishing new campuses of our church, and supporting missionaries to reach the ends of the earth. In that spirit, this Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline of the Global Methodist Church is intended to serve as a resource for all who wish to join in a “methodical,” practical, and warm-hearted pursuit of loving God and serving others as Jesus’ disciples in the world. Beginning with confessions rooted in Scripture and shaped by the great teachings of the Church universal, the Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline provides the essential structure for the Global Methodist Church from its official launch on May 1, 2022, until its convening General Conference twelve to eighteen months later. It is offered with the prayer that it will help guide us in a new season of the church’s life as we make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
